Responsibilities
NORTHSTAR Travel Media, LLC, the global leader in business-to-business publishing for the travel/hospitality industry, is seeking a Software Engineer to work in our Secaucus, NJ office. The Software Engineer will design, modify, develop, write and implement software programming applications for new initiatives, as well as maintain existing systems; participate in the testing process through test review and analysis, test witnessing and certification of software; and use SQL and stored procedures to analyze, update/convert and report on data in various Northstar databases.

Develop/debug/support web based applications using technologies and tools below
Perform data mapping, loading and conversion, and data issue/discrepancy resolution.
Design and write custom business staff reports using SQL, SSRS, and Crystal Report Writer.
Keep up to date with the latest trends in technologies and contribute to the group and the company overall

Qualifications
Required Experience or Training:
• ASP.NET/ VB.NET
• Visual Studio 2005/2008/2010
• SQL Server 2005/2008
• Stored Procedure, views, and complex joins
• Standard Web technologies such as HTML, XHTML, XML, XSLT, JS, VBScript, AJAX, CSS
• Basic understanding of IIS 5,6, and 7
• Web Services

Other Requirements:
• Ability to demonstrate systematic and analytical approach with good problem solving skills
• Ability to analyze and review business requirement documents and communicate effectively
• Initiative, enthusiasm, and an entrepreneurial spirit while working in a team environment
• Experience working with a CMS preferred
• Knowledge of current social media trends preferred
• Experience with Open Source platform (LAMP) is a plus
• Excellent verbal/written communication skills, experience writing technical documents
• Ability to work under aggressive deadlines which may occasionally require work beyond normal hours (weekends and/or evenings)

We require 2-5 years of experience in a related position as well as a BS degree in computer science or the equivalent.
